Welcome to the Disability Advocacy Centre!

Despite the increasing numbers of disabled students gaining entrance to universities there still remain significant architectural, instructional and social barriers to our equal participation. The purpose of Access! is to lead the way to a barrier free and fully accessible university that genuinely and actively promotes and protects the rights and dignity of disabled students, staff and faculty.

You will find us on the main floor of the Student Union Building at the University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Listen to our radio show "Access Live" on CFUV, Mondays at 2pm. Events for new and returning members are held each September. Sign language classes and discussion groups run weekly. Each year Access hosts an evening of celebration and awards on December 3rd to honour the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities. New members are always welcome and we offer many opportunities for participation. Open Houses and social events are held throughout the year. Introductions to Access (“We’re not Broken You Don’t Have to Fix Us”) and a variety of orientations to disability issues are available upon request to all campus groups.

All members of the university community are welcome to visit our Centre, Use our library, attend our events and access our advocacy services. We are your Disability Advocacy Centre.
